Fascinating Tangkiang

Hai guys.

After many days of working, everyone felt like we needed a break to refresh mind. It was a clear Sunday morning when we stopped our routine activities for a rest in an a beautiful place facing to wide open ocean (Peleng strait; if you look at the Sulawesi Tengah map), here we were : swimming and snorkeling.

Above and below the water (to be honest it is difficult to capture this moment due to continuously moving waves, luckily I did it)

We were not in Bunaken or Derawan or Wakatobi. We were in Tangkiang. Perhaps this name is not familiar yet among the local or foreign tourists. However, like another parts in Central and North Sulawesi which are well-known for its nature and under water landscape, Tangkiang also has its own magnificent under water view; that potentially boast its name to be a favorites diving spot someday  in the future.

What makes Tangkiang unique is its coral located just under your feet! So you don’t even need a Goggle and snorkeling sets because you can see the fishes playing between anemones from above the water without your head getting wet! Amazing. Thanks to its shallow underwater paradise. Of course we must step carefully so that we won’t destroy the coral an another part of this ecosystem, and always be careful of the sea urchin despite they are happy hiding below the coral all day.

Beneath the water, thousand of species live happily, might be ever existed since centuries back. My friend brought slices of bread, so we put that bread into a small plastic bag, lock it with rubber band then opened it when reached near coral. Here we go: feeding wild fishes 😀  Just like in feeding frenzygame , suddenly many many fishes came out from their perfect hiding nest between corals and anemones . Astonish! (I feel very lucky to have waterproof camera save this moment. Great thanks to my Nikon Coolpix S30).

I am sorry I have no idea at all what are those beautiful polyps are, I am not a marine biologist. Let me just called them with: yellow-sea-flower polyps hehe.

Suddenly fishes came out to see what happens. Might be they were looking for brunch :p

After saw all  the fascinating creatures  one meter below the water level, I have my opinion: The colors of coral and fishes swim in and out are pretty similiar. I could see such colours: green, yellow, pale blue, and dark blue, black, black with white stripes, etc. Those are just example form of the perfect camouflage that animal kingdom have to survive.
